These records refer to Joan Plush Mills and Include correspondence, 1932-1950, with many letters concerning machinery; parts lists, 1935-1937, for Crompton & Knowles machinery; a wage survey report, 1952, from New England Telephone and Telegraph; plush department cost sheets, 1936-1940; and costs sheets by style, 1936, with cloth samples (swatches). Also includes financial audits, 1950-1953; receiving clerk's records, 1945, for machinery, yarn, raw materials, etc.; price lists, 1939; records of shipments, 1945; and a scrapbook of promotional materials, 1943-1945. The company was incorporated in 1932 in Central Falls, R.I., and manufactured plush fabrics, upholstery materials, and corduroys, purchasing the cotton and mohair yarns.
